Talk about a game of two halfs! On a wet and windy morning and with the team one player down with Ryan unavailable, the Blues probably produced their best performance of the season so far in the first game. Playing up the hill and against the strong wind in the first quarter, the team defended bravely with Sam and Harrison at the back playing especially well. The attacking chances were few and far between, but Calum and Luke were able to break on the counter attack on a number of occasions. However, the best chance came from the Reds which was saved well by Joshua in goals. However in the second quarter the attacking chances began to flow. With Miles and Eden pushing up in the midfield the Blues were able to score two quick goals, the first from a fine finish from Calum, and the second following good Blue's build up work finished well by Luke. The Reds team responded well and were rewarded by two equalising goals. However, this set back did not deter the Blues team and following a foul on Miles, Luke delivered a thunderbolt free-kick (Ronaldo style!) into the back of the net to put the Blues 3 - 2 up. Despite a number of chances by the red team, the Blues held on for a deserved win. The effort of the first game seemed to take its toll on the team in the third and fourth quarters, and with the Reds seemingly finding another couple of gears, the Blues struggled to maintain their concentration, and the Reds ran out easy winners in the second game. Luke won Player of the Match for his brace and a very good performance in the midfield. It is becoming clear that the team are starting to really push on and their confidence, particularly in the first game, was great to see. With more training the team is looking good. GO ON THE BLUES!!!!
