U10 Blues 1
Miles (1)
Stevenage Boro Eagles

Following a two week break and with no training last week, the Blues team struggled to match the same level of performance that saw them record their first win last time out. With Sam absence, the team only fielding seven players, and very cold and windy conditions, they eventually ran out of steam in the second game. However, the final scoreline did flatter the away side especially during a very close first game which the Blues could have won instead of drawing it. With a new defensive line of Miles and Luke the Blues began the first game brightly. With the midfield of Ryan, Harrison and Eden pushing forward to help Calum they created a number of half chances. However it was the Eagles who took the lead when a wind deflected looping shot just crept in despite a good effort from Joshua in goals and Miles on the line. In the second half the Blues created more chances with both Calum and Ryan going close. However it was Miles who equalised from a great corner from Calum. The Blues could have won the game with efforts from Ryan and another from Calum which went just wide or were blocked by the Eagles defence. The second game saw the line up change with Harrison and Eden at the back, but the team could not maintain the effort of the first game, as the midfield was forced back by the Eagles and the team struggled to go forward. When the Blues did attack they were caught out with two quick goals from the Eagles on the break. The final quarter saw more domination from the Eagles and a couple of fine close range saves from Joshua kept the scoreline down. Ryan was awarded the Player of the Match following a fine performance (those goals will come soon Ryan!) in the midfield supporting both defence and Calum up front. From the games played so far the team are showing more and more confidence in their passing and general attacking play, but do need to concentrate on their defensive work, something that will most definitely happen with more practice and training. WELL DONE BOYS!!!
