Saturday 15/11/08 Home to Broadhall Youth
Another fine game from the Whites who are growing into a very good passing side.
Everyone played in their ‘usual’ positions in preparation for the big match next week and it showed as they dominated the match. Although Broadhall are only in their first season I think they are one to look out for in the future.
The most pleasing part of the game was that everyone was helping out their team mates with forwards coming back to help defend and defenders & midfielders picking the right time to move up to help in attack. This must come from players having played in every position since the start of the season and they all seem comfortable wherever they play.
What stood out for me was the quality of the corners from both Georges and Courtney – all superbly whizzed into the box at head height. One particular corner from George M was excellently headed in by George G and I believe we will see many more headed goals from corners from now on. This was also mixed up with a couple of quick short corners which also led to a goal when Dillon passed to Courtney who curled it into the top corner before Broadhall could close him down.
For me the best move of the match came when Ben not only stopped the other team from getting a shot at goal but also brought the ball out of defence and this led to another classy goal.
With the exception of Ben, who marshalled the defence brilliantly, every out player scored and they were all well worked and well finished and it was all down to teamwork and quality passing. Every player should be very proud of the part they played.
The score of the first game was 4-1 with goals from Dillon, Louis & George G (2). The second game 5-0 the scorers Harry, Rooney, Courtney & both Georges.
Thanks to everyone who helped me and especially to Dave for having another outstanding game as ref!
Player of the match – Dillon – a constant pain for the opposition!
