Potton Colts 4 – 3 Tigers
Ewan 2, Max
The game started off with Potton playing some good football and the Tigers were mainly pinned back in their own half. Twiggy, Evan and Max were kept busy clearing the ball from goalmouth scrambles and getting bodies behind the ball to block shots. William J was excellent in goal and stood up well to force a Potton striker to shoot wide when there were two players clean through but there was nothing he could do to stop the goals which included one cracking free kick. James and Ben battled and chased up front and in one of the few opportunities to break forward James made a great run down the left wing.
After half time the Tigers pressed forward a lot more and their first chance came when Sam forced a save from an inswinging corner. Soon after, James tackled a player in his own half and made another great run down the left wing then Ewan, making a guest appearance for the Tigers, ran nearly the full length of the pitch to pull a goal back. James made several more excellent runs down both wings and forced Potton on to the back foot. As the Tigers attacked more, the ball fell to Max half way into the opposition half and he scored his first goal with a most amazing lob that fooled the goalkeeper. Ben continued to battle hard up front and put one defence splitting pass through. The Tigers finished strongly and Ewan scored a third goal with yet another fantastic individual effort. So the Tigers won the second half and James who worked his socks off (not literally) deservedly won the Man of the Match.
Potton Colts 1 – 3 Lions
Ewan, Reece, Matt
In a tough game, the Lions showed that they can play good football but also have the determination and strength to compete physically. This game was full of hard tackles but was also full of great effort and teamwork. Throughout the first half, the team worked extremely hard, running back to get behind the ball to break down Potton attacks and then breaking forward quickly. In a hard fought first half in which Kieran had very little to do, the Lions took a well deserved lead thanks to a goal from Ewan that was struck high into the net with his left foot after he broke into the box.
After half time the boys showed no signs of tiredness and, if anything, worked even harder. Ewan, as ever, made tackles all over the pitch, made several of his trademark dazzling runs but also showed another dimension to his game, bringing other players into the game with some great passes. Matty in midfield constantly turned defence into attack, receiving the ball from defence, spreading the play and putting through some probing passes to the strikers and Reece playing up front seemed a natural striker holding the ball up well and making great runs which caused problems for the opposition defence throughout the game. The Lions were rewarded for their determination and got a second goal when Reece found yet another great position in the box and delicately flicked the ball over the goalkeeper with the outside of his foot. A real piece of skill and his first goal for the team.
At the back, a good partnership developed between William W and Sam and with William’s speed and Sam’s strength the defence looked strong. When Kieran was eventually called on to make a save from a ferocious shot he made it look easy. Potton tried to press forward but even when they might have broken through, William W, the quickest player on the pitch, always managed to get back and help Sam get the ball away. The game was put beyond doubt when after some great work by the strikers, Matty and his amazing goalscoring knee got a third goal. In the end, even though Potton were a tough side, the Lions were just too strong and determined and gave us another great team performance.

Managers report
Once again boys you made Saturday morning the highlight of the weekend. With some determined and dazzling football. Each and every one of you brought something special to the game. The outstanding point for me was Twiggys ball control sure made my day.
Well done all keep it going.
